FAQs

  • Currently, we are booking on Airbnb only.

  • Yes, we do have a few additional fees.

Our base fee covers four guests, additional guests up to six are $25 per person per night

Security deposit hold is $500, refundable after your departure pending any damage

We do not charge additional fees or deposits for your dogs.

  • You can find details about our policy on our Airbnb listing.

  • Yes, our minimum stay is two nights. There is the rare occasion that a one night stay will become available. Please see our calendar for availability.

  • We have gone through great lengths to make technology an afterthought. We have the necessities such as high speed wireless and a 4k tv, but the TV is hiding in plain sight due to it’s design in our gallery wall.

  • We’re dog people and have kept things pretty simple:

    1. Dog limit on site is two

    2. Please pickup after your pet to ensure future guests have an enjoyable experience.

    3. You are welcome to leave your dog behind while you explore the national park, but we do ask that the dog is crated with food and water.

    4. Please try to keep the dogs off the furniture. We try with ours, but sometimes we fail.

    5. Report any accidents or damage right away so we can address the need quickly.

    6. Keep dogs leashed when not in the fenced yard. We’re at the steps of a national forest and its not uncommon for wild animals to be hanging out in the street while you’re on a stroll.

  • Parties

Per Airbnb guidelines, parties are not permitted and are subject to immediate eviction.

    Number of guests

6 guests maximum. No unnamed guests are allowed on the property without consent of the host.

    Smoking

Smoking is not allowed in any of the structures.

    Quiet hours

From 10pm and 8am. You may still enjoy the outdoor space, but please be mindful of the noise you produce during this time frame.

    Outdoor Fires

While we have two fire pits- a rustic pit in the back and a smokeless stainless in the front- we take burn bans seriously. Everyone knows the fire marshal and he is more than happy to disrupt his evening to keep our area safe. The current fine is $500 to both the guest and house host should you burn during a ban and automatic eviction. The SWCAA website provides information on current burn conditions.

    Firewood

The wood onsite is currently going through it's curing process and therefore is not recommended for use at this time. Firewood can be purchased from the grocery store Blanton's in town when burning is permitted.

    Cedar Hot tub

We thoroughly clean the hot tub and add low dosage chlorine between each guest. Please shower/rinse off to remove dirt, mud, lotions, soaps, etc and prior to entering the hot tub. Absolutely NO salts, bath bombs or bubbles allowed. NO glass to avoid accidents. Please use plastic or metal cups or containers. Please review and decide if this is a fit for you and your guests. Failure to do so might lead to draining and extra extensive maintenance which would result in extra $300 fee.

  • The town of Packwood itself is a mixed community of vacation homes and full time residents, providing an eclectic mix of homes and people.

PMH is located on a half acre corner lot in a residential community with wonderful neighbors whom we’ve developed great relationships with.

If you are looking for complete isolation, you may prefer a different cabin choice.

  • We’re 80’s babies so our definition of safe may be a little different than today’s standards. You can rest assured than numerous friends have brought their tiny humans and they’ve had an absolute blast.

We do have wooden floors and stairs, gravel walkways, and a freestanding wood stove. If you have any questions about if we might be a good fit for your family, please send us an email jennifer@packwoodmountainhouse.com

  • The short answer is yes!

This part may sound a little more intense than it actually is, but we want to make sure you don't need to open up the first aid kit while others are enjoying pizza so follow these basic guidelines and you'll be good.

There are two heating option- gas or wood. A minimum of one hour heat up time is required with gas and an hour plus depending on conditions with wood to heat. Only use the small, provided, kiln dried wood should you choose the wood option as other choices may crack the stone. Please note, propane is the preferred cooking option based on the tools we have available.

Do not start or operate Dome if stone is wet, this can crack the stone and will deduct a portion of your deposit in the amount of $300.

Guests must use proper equipment to avoid injury and operate Pizza Dome successfully. This includes provided metal trays for non-pizza items (ex: steaks, vegetables, etc.), pizza peel and turning peel, infrared thermometer, and welding gloves. These items can be found in the kitchen- gloves and thermometer in the drawer labeled pizza, trays in the cupboard below the drawer, and the peels on the side of the fridge.

Guests must clean the stone with provided dry brush before departure of house. DO NOT attempt to clean right after use or with soap and water. The recommended cleaning consists of the following:

    1. After cooking- turn up oven to high for 15-30 mins depending on spills to cook off any visible material.

    2. After heating period, do not attempt to clean. Cleaning must take place after oven is cool (minimum cool down time of 8+ hours) to properly clean and avoid injury.

    3. To clean, use provided dry brush to wipe out burnt crumbs. Do not clean with soap and water.

  • While we often use our cabin for personal use, we are a small business at the end of the day who pays our staff a living wage. In order to do so, we need to ensure that we’re able to turn a profit.

On select occasions, we will partner with influencers whom are an appropriate fit. This means that you must be able to provide a recent press kit and performance metrics for previous campaigns with other Airbnb owners.

For non-profits, we have a limited budget for the number of nights we can gift per year. Please send an email to jennifer@packwoodmountain house.com with details on the event, event goal, ask, and non-profit details.

  • We’re honored that you’ve thought of us for your special day! While our HOA does not permit weddings onsite, PMH is a great location for elopements on Mt Rainier. You are welcome to prepare for your big day and head to your venue of choice, but due note that penalty fees may be applied should a wedding ceremony take place on site.

  • We have two listings total, but only one posted at a time.

    What exactly does that mean?

During the bulk of the year, we rent out the property in its entirety. You get the entire place to yourself.

Certain times of year, however, we’re there for an extended period of time. When this happens, we open up our bunkhouse for short stays over the weekend. This is a great option if you are looking for something while heading up to White Pass during the ski season. There would be shared facilities if you rented the bunkhouse, but we tend to stick to ourselves. We don’t have solid dates in place, but will post about it on our social media channels and to our email list.

Note- for bunkhouse only rentals we ask that you leave your dog at home. Our dog Roxie is a big lover of humans, but is a bit mixed on other dogs.

  • Thank you for thinking of us! Each brand and product shoot is unique and because of this, there is no clear answer. Small businesses are slightly different that global corporations, so we like to review each circumstance individually rather than providing a blanket response. Please submit an email to hello@packwoodmountainhouse.com with “Brand/business shoot request” Please provide as many details as possible- goal, how this cabin suites your brand, product type, and link to your current website or social handle. We’ll follow up with how to best proceed.
